Corn is a sweet favorite you can introduce from around 9 to 12 months, with care around the kernels. The tough outer skin of a whole kernel can be a choking risk, so crush, cream, or finely cut it for younger babies.

How to prepare corn, by age

9 monthsCut kernels off the cob, cook soft, then lightly crush them or serve creamed corn without added salt.
12 months+Whole soft kernels as your baby pincer-grasps and chews more confidently.
18 months+Supervised gnawing on a soft cob section, or kernels in family meals.

Is corn safe? Choking & prep

Whole corn kernels have a tough skin and are a choking risk for younger babies, so crush or cream them at first. If you offer corn on the cob, let older babies gnaw only under close supervision, and never leave loose whole kernels for a baby who is not ready. Skip added salt and butter.
