Baked fish sticks
9 months+Flaky baked cod fingers instead of the salty boxed kind.
Ingredients
- • 1 Cod fillet
- • 1 Egg
- • 4 tbsp Oat flour
Good to know
Contains egg and fish: introduce each on its own first, and check carefully for bones.
The strips are soft enough to mash between fingers; flake the fish fully for a baby still on early textures.
Best fresh; the coating goes soggy overnight.
No added salt (a baby's kidneys can only handle a little), no added sugar before age 2, and no honey before age 1 (it can carry a botulism risk). More on salt, sugar, and honey.
Instructions
- Cut a cod fillet into finger-width strips, running your fingers over each strip to check carefully for bones.
- Beat 1 egg in a bowl.
- Put 4 tbsp oat flour on a plate.
- Dip each strip in egg, then roll it in the oat flour.
- Bake at 400 F on a lined tray for 10 to 12 minutes, until the fish flakes and the coating is set but not hard.
- Break one open to re-check for bones and let it cool before serving.
