Beet and apple puree
6 months+Earthy, bright, and a little sweet. A colorful first veg.
Ingredients
- • 1 small Beet
- • 1 Apple
Good to know
Beets are naturally high in nitrates, so serve it fresh and do not batch-store cooked beet puree for days.
A vivid pink in the next diaper is harmless.
No added salt (a baby's kidneys can only handle a little), no added sugar before age 2, and no honey before age 1 (it can carry a botulism risk). More on salt, sugar, and honey.
Instructions
- Steam or roast one small peeled beet with one peeled, cubed apple until both are very soft, about 20 minutes.
- Blend smooth with a little water.
- Serve lukewarm.
