Chicken, carrot and rice

9 months+

A soft, savory one-bowl dinner with iron from the chicken.

Ingredients

Good to know

No added salt (a baby's kidneys can only handle a little), no added sugar before age 2, and no honey before age 1 (it can carry a botulism risk). More on salt, sugar, and honey.

Instructions

  1. Simmer a small piece of chicken with peeled, diced carrot in unsalted water until both are tender.
  2. Shred or finely chop the chicken.
  3. Stir through soft-cooked rice and mash together, loosening with the cooking liquid.
