Chickpea and spinach rice

12 months+

Soft chickpeas and greens over rice.

Ingredients

Good to know

Spinach is high in nitrates, so serve this fresh rather than batch-cooking and reheating leftovers.

No added salt (a baby's kidneys can only handle a little), no added sugar before age 2, and no honey before age 1 (it can carry a botulism risk). More on salt, sugar, and honey.

Instructions

  1. Warm the cooked chickpeas and lightly mash so none is whole and firm.
  2. Wilt the spinach, then fold both through soft-cooked rice with a little water.
