Frozen yogurt melts

9 months+

The pouch-aisle snack, made from one ingredient in ten minutes of freezer time.

Ingredients

Good to know

Contains milk: introduce dairy on its own first.

Store-bought melts are often sweetened; plain whole-milk yogurt needs nothing added.

Keep the dots small so each one dissolves rather than being chewed.

Store in the freezer in a sealed bag for a month.

No added salt (a baby's kidneys can only handle a little), no added sugar before age 2, and no honey before age 1 (it can carry a botulism risk). More on salt, sugar, and honey.

Instructions

  1. Spoon thick plain Greek yogurt into a zip bag and snip a small corner off.
  2. Pipe small dots, about fingertip size, onto a parchment-lined tray.
  3. Freeze for at least 2 hours, until solid.
  4. Serve one or two at a time straight from the freezer; they soften on the tongue in seconds.
