Plantain and black bean mash
9 months+A soft Caribbean-inspired bowl, sweet plus savory.
Ingredients
- • 1 Ripe plantain
- • 3 tbsp Black beans
Good to know
No added salt (a baby's kidneys can only handle a little), no added sugar before age 2, and no honey before age 1 (it can carry a botulism risk). More on salt, sugar, and honey.
Instructions
- Boil or steam a ripe (yellow-black) plantain until very soft, then mash.
- Lightly mash cooked black beans and fold them through, loosening with a little water.
- Serve warm and soft.
